The Scotland Road Trip: Arthur's Seat

Arthur’s Seat sits in Edinburgh’s Holyrood Park. It’s an ancient volcano, 251m above sea level with views of the city and beyond. It is about a half an hour to one hour walk to reach the peak which we enjoyed one summer’s evening towards sunset. It was quite busy when we went, but then people don’t seem to spend much time at the peak, so there were pockets where it was quieter. It was nice to see across the city and to the surrounding neighbourhoods and then out to sea. Not only was it visually spectacular, but it also gave you some perspective and a chance to work out the geography of the cities’ streets. Really recommend, despite timing our visit during a surprising hot period in Scotland’s summer in 2018.
